Set within an active vineyard in St. Helena, this residence is conceived as a quiet counterpoint to its agricultural setting. The architecture unfolds as a series of low, barn-like volumes arranged to move slowly across the site, allowing the landscape to remain visually dominant. Weathered wood, steel, and glass are used with restraint, creating a structure that feels settled rather than imposed.
Lighting by Vita Pehar Design is integrated with the architecture to support this measured pace. Interior and exterior lighting work together to reinforce circulation, soften transitions between spaces, and maintain a calm, even atmosphere throughout the day and into the evening. The result is a home that feels deliberate and unforced, shaped as much by light and landscape as by structure.
