Set on the floor of Napa Valley, this Calistoga residence was conceived as a modern farmhouse shaped by its surroundings rather than imposed upon them. The architecture is low and horizontal, opening north toward vineyard views and allowing indoor and outdoor spaces to flow together with little sense of boundary. Materials are restrained and tactile—plaster, European white oak, limestone—chosen to echo the tones and textures of the landscape and to soften the home’s minimal forms.
Lighting by Vita Pehar Design is integrated with the same sense of discipline. Rather than acting as a focal point, the lighting supports circulation, material clarity, and daily use, allowing daylight, views, and spatial relationships to remain central to the experience of the house.
